Fracture

“Don’t let me drown”, I pleaded. Drowning with the weight of expectations, of responsibility, of unmet needs.

“Hear me as I tell you my heart”, I cried. Screaming out into the silence, a void filled with anguish, with sharp edges and endless paper cuts.

“See me as I am”, I hoped. Yearning for acceptance, for understanding, for compassion.

A thousand wishes, heartfelt and earnest.

A litany of prayers, begging and bargaining, offering anything for respite.

Endless love provided, heedless of cost.

But still the fracture came.
